Green beans are one of a group of plants nuts important in Indonesia, because this plant has many benefit in everyday life as a source of food High vegetable protein. Things to consider in seed storage is the deterioration (deterioration of quality) seeds by a factor of temperature and time storage. Store room temperature plays a role in maintaining the viability the seed during storage, low temperature is better than high temperatures for seed storage. The lower the storage temperature decrease seed viability can be further reduced, while the higher the temperature the more increased rate of decline in seed viability. This research aims to determine the effect of temperature and storage time on viability of seeds green beans (P. radiatus L).
This research was conducted in the laboratory of this study was an experimental study using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) Factorial consisting of two factors with three replications. The first factor is the temperature of seed storage at -70 ° C, -5 ° C, 3 ° C and 26 ° C. The second factor is the treatment of the storage time 0 days, 30 days, 60 days and 90 days. Data obtained from this study were analyzed by analysis of variance, and to determine the best treatment trials (DMRT) with significance level of 5%.
The results of this study indicate that there are effects of temperature and long storage on viability of seeds of green beans. Store at room temperature significantly affect seed viability green beans, seeds are stored in the store room temperature of -70 ° C still has the highest viability compared to seeds stored in a room with a higher temperature, as indicated by the variable germination and vigor. storage time significantly affect seed viability green beans, seeds are stored during storage of 30 days has the highest viability than seeds stored for 90 days, as indicated by the variable germination, vigor, long time to germinate and sprout. There is an interaction effect real between temperature and storage time on viability bean seed green, are already shown by the variable germination and vigor. Storage
